Receiving Line

One of the absolute BEST decisions we made concerning the wedding was having the receiving line before the ceremony. Oh my goodness you guys, seeing everyone beforehand and seeing how happy they were and excited for us....talk about a warm and fuzzy feeling all over! We definitely felt the love.

So many people made the 2 hour trip, and we were so glad that they did.

We got lots of hugs...

...and a chance to visit with pretty much everyone.

I got to meet some of Ryan's friends I hadn't gotten to meet yet...it's so nice to put faces to names!

There were fist bumps...
After the wedding, I realized that my Grandma and I hadn't ever taken a picture together. I had this awful sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach over it, and I had just about decided that I was going to bust out the dress again and have Ryan dress up in his suit (he was 100% game) and use my Dad's nice camera to get a picture with Grandma. Then we got our pictures...and I saw this candid shot from our photographer. And I was blown away, because it's better than any posed picture we could've taken. I LOVE this picture.

Ryan and I got to hang out, which was really nice.

There were meaningful moments...

And before we knew it, it was time to cool down and get ready to make it official!

  1. LOVE that last picture. I could have used a fan like that on my wedding day, too. So. Hot.

  4. Great idea! We didn't do a formal receiving line, but we did have a chance to greet some guests who arrived while we were taking photos outside. It was great to see how excited they were and to share the moment with them. Love the fan shot!

  5. I love the fan shot too! And your shoes were gorgeous. I don't think we're doing a formal receiving line but I hope to be able to chat with every single one of our guests bu the end of the wedding.

  7. Love that last picture! You're such a Rock Star!! We had only a short time during dinner to see our guests and we didn't get to all of them! It was really quite sad. We were STARVING and trying to say hello to everyone.

  9. We had a meet and greet before the wedding and it completely set the right tone for the ceremony and it was so nice to see everyone arrive. I agree, it was an excellent decision.

And, the fan picture with the shoes is awesome.

  11. Yum yum yum! LOVE These photos! I love the last one the best but totally agree about the grandma shot for sure. We did in fact bust out the wedding dress and my daughter's bridesmaid dress and did a post wedding shoot last week to get the images I didn't get on the wedding day.

I love that you did the receiving line first...so untraditional...I love it when brides go against what is expected and it seems to have worked out perfectly for you! :)
