Rave

We wanted to get people to the dance floor ASAP, so directly after toasts we did the mother/groom dance, the father/daughter dance followed by the first dance...and then we had a rave.

As soon as Ryan and I got off the dance floor we dashed for the head table where I had glowsticks (from the Target dollar spot!) ready and waiting. "Sandstorm" came on, we ran over to the table where all of his ushers were, we handed out glow sticks right and left, and wonderful things happened...

I cannot tell you how hard I was laughing, it was absolutely awesome! Most of Ryan's runners were dancing, and a ton of his old co-workers hopped onto the dance floor too.

It was so Ryan, and I am so, so glad we did it. It was a blast for him and his friends (lets be honest...everyone thought it ruled), and it really got the party going in a big way. The dance floor was packed all night.

Did you add anything to your reception that was a big hit?

  1. That is SO FUN!

Way to go with getting everyone out on the dance floor quickly. That's one of my big fears, that I may have to get on the mircrophone and command "Everyone dance, NOW. Thank you."

  2. What a great idea!! That is awesome. I'm a big dancer so I really wanted everyone on the floor all.night.long. In the beginning a lot of people were on the floor thanks to the DJ's coaxing. But there was a point where the floor was nearly empty and I was PISSED. I basically ran around the room instructing tables to get the EFF UP and dance. It worked and the floor was still packed at the end of the night.

  3. I totally almost did this! I originally wanted to get glow sticks for the dance floor for sure. Instead we opted for flashing mouth guards and flashing sunglasses for the little guests under 16 years old. I blogged about it a bit today. So fun!

I love these pics...looks like everyone had a ball. Oh, and our biggest hits at the reception were the chocolate fountain and photobooth for sure.

  6. This is such a creative idea. I constantly wonder how to make people get on the dance floor for our wedding.

Looks like your wedding was a blast.
