Now that we've got that out of the way....so I'm tanning for the wedding because I am super pasty. Ryan, being part Italian, has this lovely olive skin that turns this bronzed golden brown after maybe 30 seconds in the sun. All the while my veins are showing very clearly through my skin. One of Ryan's favorite games is to show me his tanlines, or hold his golden arm up to my pasty one and say "Look how PASTY you are! You're so WHITE."
It's super fun for him.
Needless to say, I am slightly....bored with this game. And I knew I was going to tan for the wedding anyway. I haven't seen Ryan since the 4th, so I wanted to show up in St Louis this weekend crazy tan and be like "WHAT'S UP, who's pasty NOW." Last night Alli and I are on our way to Target and she's all "um, you know how you told me I need to tell you when to stop tanning? Yeah well that's right now, you need to stop tanning." And I was bummed, because I want to WIN (win what, I know, but I've just got that moment where I show up on Friday all tanned and golden goddessy looking and prove something, not sure what in my head, I can't let it go). Then Alli told me that 11 days before my wedding is the worst possible time for a tanning contest.
I think she's right...but I just can't get rid of this stupid sports bra tan line! I think I'll go maybe twice more and lay off.
Did you do something beauty wise that you normally never do before your wedding?
I tanned for my wedding and I have no problem admitting it. I'm extremely vain and being tan makes me feel better. Hey, at least I'm honest.
ReplyDeleteYou're 11 days out...hmm I say tan one more time this week (like today or tomorrow), then the Monday of wedding week and one more time Wednesday or Thursday. That last time, though, don't go for too long just in case you burn.
If that's too much, try Jergens Natural Glow. Some people are weird about the smell but I don't find it offensive at all. I use it all the time and it gives me a very natural color.
Ps, saw your fashionably modest post on That Wife today! So cute!!
I already tan once a month or so to help treat my eczema. I don't know if I will tan more before my wedding. I have to balance the risk of having bad eczema and being pale against the unattractiveness of the uneven tan I generally get (my most eczema-prone places end up looking like white spots) the cost, and the cancer.
ReplyDeleteEleven days! How exciting!
So was "tanning bad" an intentional typo or just very Freudian? : )
ReplyDeleteWait, I'm confused...if you are tanning, why do you have a sports bra tan? When I tan (which by the way is only right before a sun-filled vacation so I don't burn or right before my wedding), I always go butt naked. There should be no tan lines.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, I always go for the 30 days before the event...I am super white, too. And I burn easily. So I ease into it at 6 minutes per day for about 3 days and then bump it up 1 to 2 minutes each day for another 3 days until eventually I'm near 10-12 minutes depending on the bed.
That way, I have always ended up with a nice tan...doesn't look fake and doesn't look burned and no tan lines :)
I say do it for sure. I did for my wedding and was so glad. And you can't even tell in my photos that I am tan...I just look 'normal'...especiallky next to all those dark skinned bridesmaids I had - BLECH! :)
while i dont plan on tanning i HAVE been getting a lot of beach time in and i refuse to wear anything but my one strapless bikini top for intense fear of wonky tan lines. i am determined to make my veins disappear too!
ReplyDeleteI am white and have just accepted it. I am, however, considering getting my teeth whitened. I just bought the crest white strips and, if those don't work, I will absolutely be getting professional teeth whitening.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, vanity wins over sanity. Oh freaking well. When you feel better, that's when the inner beauty happens anyhow.
Eek! 12 days! Yay!
I'm not into tanning, I've never even had a spray tan. I have accepted my whiteness :) BUT what annoys me is that the Groomie is IRISH and he tans without even trying. How is that fair?!
ReplyDeleteHa, did you read my recent post about how my seamstress told me I was too pasty? She would love you, lady!
ReplyDeleteJust be healthy and it's all good - you do what you want!
Ehhhh everything in moderation! If you aren't one of those people who is addicted to the tanning bed, then I see no problem in it whatsoever! I admit, I did tan a bit before our wedding....and then was at the beach quite a bit beforehand too. If it makes you feel good, then go for it! As long as you don't end up looking like Snookie ;)
ReplyDeleteI tanned too...who cares. I also got a brazilan wax...ouch!
ReplyDeletehahaha, I have kind of the opposite of this post written but not yet posted. I don't tan and can't fake tan (always look tango'd no matter what). So I'm just going to have to be white/blue.
ReplyDeleteI think if you want that tan for your wedding day. Go for it. I think we all go through a little bit of vanity for our wedding day.
ReplyDeleteI tanned, I mean, you're wearing a white dress, you don't want to match, right?!? Haha....I also whiten my teeth with a bleach kit. I didn't use the full thing, I think a little more than half. Just to give my smile that extra something! :)
ReplyDeleteI stopped eating all thigs sweet and bad for me! It was so hard!
ReplyDeleteI will prob do a little bit of tanning only to even things out. I don't like the overly tan look and it really doesn't look right on my skin!
